THE STUBBORN PRIDES; TREE CLIMBING LIONS IN UGANDA

Real Kings of the jungle; tree climbing lions of Ishasha sector, Queen Elzabeth National Park

Travel is most peoples’ dream for we want to get real genuine feelings of what we watch on television, internet, videos and read in print media. Humankind is always curious and exploratory in nature we always want to walk in the footsteps of our idols and celebrities and share their in their experiences.  On adventure safaris intoAfrica we discover unique attractions that we always read in kids books, watched in movies (Mufasa; The Lion King, example) and have always dreamt of from childhood.  The feelings of an impending safari anywhere in Africa send sweet shivers down our spines for we assume we are getting closer to living our dreams. Some people’s dream is bisecting the African continent from the northern tip in Algeria to the southern base at Cape Town, others splitting it from Mombasa in the east to Accra in the west, others dream of conquering Mt Kilimanjaro and be on top of every other person standing on land on the continent, others descending the mighty Nile River from the Mediterranean sea to Lake Victoria while many others want to stand at the Equator line, enjoy tropic sunshine and look on as their skins peel and  tan. Wow, these are unique interests to each particular individual adventurer! You have successfully achieved your aim, what else? Almost entirely the next item (to most travelers number one African attraction!) on everybody’s lips will be visiting the beautiful game parks with scenic landscapes and viewing big herds of mammals roaming the plain savannah and equally big swarms of beautiful birds in all colors in all corners. This has become the true definition and measuring scale of Africa! True, there are vast flat lands with big herds of wildlife standing shoulder to shoulder and shoving off each other for feeding rights and their own survival. And coming number one of many travelers ideal mammal attraction is Lion; King of the jungle not because he is the most strong, large, fast, cunning or even beautiful but rather because the ferocious nature and wield habits of feeding on other wildlife species for their survival.  And yes encountering a pride of lions on hunt, stalking prey and finally wrestling life out of an unfortunate animal is a humbling experience every traveler dreams of encountering.
Tourists can never have enough of Ishasha Sector's tree climbing lions

The flat plains of Albertine rift valley, Ishasha sector in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda boast of prides of lions so obsessed with climbing trees. It is common knowledge that cats in infancy like climbing onto different objects as play items and to pass time. However finding a whole pride of lions; some grand fathers with thick and dark mane or females some heavily pregnant and on the verge of delivery is quite odd and raises eye blows. Very many reasons have been advanced for this quite peculiar act ranging from resting in the shade of trees from the burning equatorial sun, getting rest from irritating swarms of insects attracted by foul smell of fresh meat and victims’ blood on lions’ body fur, taking vintage positions to scan far away areas for game and potential meal, attempting to steal leftovers of leopard kills or a wild adaptation mastered from childhood games. Whatever their reasons for this odd behavior be it scientific, social, gastronomical, security, leisure or any other, the travelers who  successfully trek Mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and then encounter these giant maneaters atop fig trees everyday have millions of reasons to rate their adventure Uganda safari highly successful and best of the rest anywhere.
