Rules and Regulation of Gorilla Trekking


RULES AND REGULATIONS OF GORILLA TREKKING
If you’re planning to do gorilla trekking safari, you should first go through rules and regulations of gorilla trekking being given by Uganda Wildlife Authority so as to keep away gorillas from danger.
The following are rules and regulation governing gorilla trekking in Uganda.
·         A maximum of 8 visitors are allowed to visit the habituated gorilla family per day. These rules help to minimize the disturbances to the mountain gorillas and it prevents exposure of human-borne diseases to the gorillas.
·         When in the jungle, searching for the endangered mountain gorillas, please always keep your voices low so as not to scare way the gorillas and you will get a chance to observe bird species and other wildlife in the impenetrable forest.
·         Before heading to the jungle, always wash your hands with soap to kills germs so as not to infect the gorillas.
·         Always keep a distance of 7 meter [21 feet’s] away from the endangered mountain gorillas, the further you are, the more relaxed the gorillas will be.
·         Avoid leaving behind rubbish in the park. If you have some rubbish with you, please keep them and throw at rubbished pity in the lodge.
·         Never touch a gorilla because they remain as wild animals.
·         Avoid eating food/sacks and smoking when with endangered mountain gorillas.
·         Always stay in tight group when you are with the gorillas. Please never leave your group for purposes of security.
·         The time allowed for you to spend with the mountain gorillas is one hour only. But if the endangered mountain gorillas become nervous, agitated, the game ranger will finish the visit early so as to avoid risk.
·         Avoid using flash light cameras because they might scare away the gorillas and when taking photos make sure you move carefully and slowly.
·         Gorillas sometimes can charge/get nervous, so you should follow game ranger’s instruction , crouch down slowly, do not look the gorillas directly in the eyes and wait for them to pass, never attempt running away because it increases the risks of gorillas to become wild.
·         Anyone with communicable disease is not allowed to trek gorillas because it might spread to the gorillas too.
·         Never urinate in the park, if you need to urinate please inform the game ranger and he will dig deep hole and after using please cover the hole.
