Spotless White
Giraffes Sighted in Kenya
Africa is really full of wonders; pair of rare white giraffes were spotted in Kenya. The
mother and child were spotted in one of the game reserve in Kenya.
The white female giraffe and her baby giraffe were spotted
from Hirola Conservation area around August by game rangers. The area is
managed by Hirola Conservation programme and an NGO dedicated to preserving the
critically endangered hirola antelope which is one of rarest in the world.
This rare white giraffes suffer from genetic condition which
is known as leucism that inhibits the pigmentation in the skin cells. Leucism
is just like albinism in human being, animals having the problem of laucism
will always continue to produce dark pigment in their soft tissue that explains
the white giraffes’ dark eyes and other coloring.
The rare white giraffes where first spotted in June by the
local people, who reported to the game rangers about this white giraffes in the
area. The blog of rare white giraffes was first established by Hirolaconversation programme.
This white giraffes where not secure with human presence
even if when you get close to them they were extremely calm and seemed not
disturbed by people presences. Actually the mother giraffes kept on pacing back
and forth a few yards in front of people presence while giving signaling to it
is baby giraffe to hide behind the tall bushes.
